First, a quick look at the benefits of salt inhalers:

  • Boost respiratory resiliency and lung capacity

  • Supports immunity and decreased inflammation

  • Anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, and antimicrobial

  • Purifies the air (great switch for smokers)

  • Deepens breath capacity (opens the airways)

  • Cleansing expectorant (reduces excess mucous)

  • Hydrates and moisturizes mucous membranes

  • Low-tech and economical

  • Encourages sleep with less congestion, coughing and breath-related sleeping conditions

  • Promotes peace and calming mood

Now, here’s how to use your salt inhaler!

  • Gently place your entire mouth over the opening of your salt inhaler to create a seal.

  • Take a full deep inhale (count to 7) through your mouth all the way to the base of your lungs.

  • Hold for 1-2 counts while you release the inhaler from your mouth.

  • Close your lips and let your mouth and face relax.

  • Exhale slowly through both nostrils (count to 9)

  • Take a breath or two between each repetition with mindfulness.

  • Repeat 3-5 times

This complementary therapy can be used  1-4 times per day according to your needs.

Use your inhaler twice per day in the morning and evening to receive the most benefits. Optional use at your discretion during the day and/or for breathing exercises if desired. Here’s a list of additional beneficial times of day to use the inhaler:

  • Upon Awakening (6-7am Kapha time)
    Before Pranayama (Breathing Exercises)
    Mid-Afternoon (2 -3pm Vata time)
    At Bedtime (9-10pm Kapha time)

There are no side effects and this therapy is drug-free. Before starting any new medication or therapy please consult with your healthcare provider.

HOW TO USE SOLE

Olé! It’s sole. First, let’s learn what sole actually is:

Sole is a mixture of pure spring water and Himalayan salt that results in an aqueous solution that has much less sodium than just adding salt to water. Once the sole is prepared it is about 26 parts salt to 100 parts water. This combo is easy to make and keep on your counter for handy usage. This solution helps to transport the electrolytes throughout the body and go where needed. It helps you hydrate more efficiently!

Great. Now here’s how to make your own:

  • Fill the special sole glass or a mason jar with pink salt crystals.

  • Cover the salt with 2-3 inches of water that has been boiled and cooled.

  • Place the lid on the jar to prevent evaporation and store in a cool dry place. Let it dissolve for 24 hours.

  • If all of the salt is absorbed, add more salt; if not, you now have salt solution. You want to see some undissolved salt at the bottom of your jar. When the water is over-saturated with salt, the crystals will sink to the bottom of the glass jar. This process can be repeated with more water and salt when needed. Since salt is a natural preservative it will keep indefinitely.

Here’s what to do with the sole you’ve just made!

  • First thing in the morning, place ½  to 1 tsp. of the sole in a glass with 8 fluid oz of water. Drink it immediately or take it to go. Lemon and lime are great additions to sole, and you can also add sole can be added to soups and anything you would use, in the place of salt.
